501 Vanderbilt Pkwy, Dix Hills NY 11746 GPS 40.811031, -73.342913
South of the Northern State Parkway, at the junction of Deer Park Avenue and the Vanderbilt Motor Parkway. Huntington Historic Cemetery.
This cemetery is the resting place of Timothy Carll, Captain of the Suffolk County Militia Revolutionary War. 1729 – 1805
This cemetery is along the original route of the Vanderbilt Motor parkway which is believed to be what is now known as Candlewood path running along side what is now called the Vanderbilt Pkwy. Candlewood path continues past were the road dead ends down to the intersection of Deer Park Road and looks as it would have continued directly past the cemetery. I believe when the intersection was updated the route was move slightly to the north leaving the original motor parkway paralleling the new version. My guess is they renamed the small portion of left to Candlewood path. It does look like Candlewood does continue across deer park road.
